Lecturer- Meats & Poultry Processing

Clemson University's Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences is seeking qualified applicants to fill a 12-month renewable Lecturer position with a split teaching/meats lab management appointment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a meats processing class & providing support for beef, swine & poultry techniques courses in addition to the department's animal products class. Further, management of the meats lab will be a primary responsibility of this position. As manager, the successful candidate will schedule use of the facility, work with the public and maintain HACCP accreditation as well as USDA labels needed for processing and selling product. Other responsibilities may include (time permitting) undergraduate & club advising, committee service & other related faculty duties. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications & experience. The planned starting date for the position is August 15, 2017.
Applicants should have a MS or PhD in animal, poultry, food, meat or related sciences. The applicant should be able to teach meat & poultry processing (including teaching lab classes in the abattoir). The individual will need to be HACCP certified (or be able to attain certification), have knowledge of abattoir operations & management, be service orientated, have evidence of a strong independent work ethic & organizational skills & have a substantial grasp of the meat & poultry industries.
