General Function: Instructor NT is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities to teach full-time and to provide appropriate service. The Instructor NT may participate in research or creative activities. This non-tenure track position begins on June 1, 2023.
Position Description: Full-time, twelve-month Instructor position in the Animal Science Department at Missouri State University. Salary will be based upon qualifications and experience, and a competitive fringe benefits package is offered.
Description of Responsibilities: Teach introductory animal science courses and associated laboratories. Potential course assignments may include but not limited to introductory level courses in Animal Science, including Companion Animal, Equine, or Poultry Science. Successful candidate will supervise and evaluate assistants and develop schedules in consultation with the Animal Science Department Head. Candidate may be required to assist with research projects in the summer and other duties as assigned by the Department Head. Additional duties include student advising; advise extra-curricular student activities; recruitment and assist with public and media relations efforts. Successful candidate will be expected to interact with potential employers in the development and supervision of student internships and employment opportunities. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: An earned terminal degree or the degree required for teaching in certain disciplines is required. Potential or demonstrated teaching ability is required. A willingness to serve the academic unit, college, and the university is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Requirements: A master’s degree with emphasis in Animal Science or in a related field relevant to the position. A strong livestock background with experience in daily management of livestock operations. Ability to teach a wide range of animal science courses; strong interpersonal, leadership, communication and motivational skills.
Employment will require a criminal background check at university expense.
