The incumbent will be expected to remain current with innovations relevant to the beef cattle industry, including interpretation of original research involving reproduction, breeding/genetics, nutrition, management, economics, etc., and determine how such novel information applies to Utah beef cattle producers including cow-calf, purebred, and feedlot operations.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct original, applied research in beef cattle production science that complements his/her extension programs and addresses information gaps of particular importance to Utah's beef cattle industry, including disciplines of nutrition, genetics/genomics, breeding, reproduction, cow/calf production, or animal welfare. Research results should be published in refereed journals and Extension or popular press publications. The incumbent will be expected to successfully compete for external funding to support their research and Extension activities.
