Position: Assistant Professor, Animal Science. This is a 9-month tenure track position with opportunities for summer research support.
Position Available: August 15, 2024
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop and teach animal physiology, animal genetics, and other animal science-related course(s) to address the technical needs of graduates working in the animal science industry and the interdisciplinary applications within agriculture. The successful candidate will develop a research program for extramural funding and refereed publications. The faculty member will also mentor graduate students, advise undergraduates on special projects, and participate in outreach activities.

Required: 1) Earned doctorate by the time of appointment with a primary emphasis in Animal Science or closely related technical discipline; and 2) Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communication.
Preferred: 1) Demonstrated knowledge in animal physiology and/or animal genetics; 2) Experience in college-level teaching and/or ability to teach animal physiology or animal genetics courses; 3) Professional work experience in animal science industries; 4) Strong skills in computing and data analysis related to animal science; and 5) Experience in grant writing and refereed publications.
Membership is open to individuals, organizations, or firms interested in research and application, instruction, or extension in animal science
or associated with the production, processing, marketing, or distribution of livestock and livestock products.
