Position: Non-tenure track; responsibilities for teaching, and curriculum and course development. The Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor. This is an academic year (9-months, with additional opportunities for summer appointment), non-tenure track position in online education. The purpose of the position is to help strategically expand the Department of Animal Sciences’ online portfolio and online programs (courses, online degrees, and certificate programs). The desired candidate will have a background in the fields of animal sciences and online education.
Responsibilities: This is an academic year appointment (9 months), with summer appointment possibilities, primarily focused on innovative instruction of online undergraduate courses in the Department of Animal Sciences. Clinical Faculty are primarily responsible for leading and supporting the program’s needs in student instruction, engagement, and/or professional development. Potential students include both residential students on the Purdue West Lafayette campus, as well as non-residential students.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Develop, implement, and teach online courses in the undergraduate Animal Sciences curriculum.
On average, teach four (4) undergraduate courses per year; although primarily online, there may be opportunities to teach in-person courses, as needed.
Engage in service and outreach responsibilities both within and outside of the Department.
Support the Department's academic programs through student mentoring and service.
Participate in undergraduate curriculum discussions and strategic planning for the Department.

Qualifications: PhD in animal sciences, or a closely related field, or a DVM; the doctoral degree must be satisfied by the start of the appointment. Experience with an Animal Sciences undergraduate curriculum. Experience with online course development and demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
