The Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a 60% Extension, 40% teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. This position carries the expectation of excellence in Extension and teaching commensurate with the land grant mission of Oklahoma State University.
The successful candidate is expected to (a) develop Extension programming impactful to the meat industry of Oklahoma, including processing and manufacturing; (b) lead and contribute to existing programming in producer, youth, and consumer meat education; (c) collaborate with Extension educators and industry to create and enhance opportunities in meat science; (d) teach meat science and processing courses to complement current curriculum offerings; and (e) demonstrate ability to secure extramural funding. The successful candidate will have opportunities to (a) serve industry organizations in Oklahoma and beyond; (b) work with industry partners to strengthen on campus relationships (c) contribute to other Departmental needs; (d) represent the Department at state, regional, and national meetings, and conferences. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate in Extension and teaching with other faculty in the Department and the University as appropriate.
A Ph.D. in Animal, Meat, or Food Science or other closely related field. Applicants must be committed to Extension programming. The candidate must have a strong background in meat processing with an understanding of fresh and processed meat quality. The candidate should have a documented background of teaching experience and excellence in instruction in meat/food science. Preference will be given to individuals with previous Extension/outreach activities, strong oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills with diverse audiences, and a record of successful collaboration in an academic environment.
This position is to be filled by May 1, 2025, or as soon as a suitable candidate is identified. The position is an 11-month, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.
