The Department of Agriculture in the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Animal Science. This position will be located on the main campus in Tifton, GA. This is a 10-month tenure track position (Assistant Professor rank) or 10-month non-tenure track position (Lecturer rank). The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses related to Animal Science and Livestock Production which might include, but is not limited to, Introduction to Animal Science, Introduction to Poultry Science, Elements of Dairying, Applied Animal Nutrition, Beef Production, Beef Industry, Equine Exercise Physiology, Equine Production Management, Food Animal Evaluation and Selection, Forage Crops and Pastures, Herd Health, Meat Production, Processing and Marketing, or Physiology of Reproduction. Other courses related to their agricultural industry interest may be introduced into the successful candidate’s teaching schedule with continued growth within the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The successful candidate will also advise students and student organizations, engage in administrative, service, and scholarly activities, engage in industry and professional organizations, and work effectively as a faculty team member to continually improve courses, degree programs, and student learning experiences. Teaching assignments will depend on the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise and student needs.
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate (Assistant Professor rank) or Master’s (Lecturer rank) in Animal Science or a closely related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours related directly to the major, i.e. animal science/livestock production.
· Demonstrated ability to work with industry stakeholders and other related groups in developing and promoting activities that enhance the student learning experience, promote student engagement, and enhance community and industry relationships.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to use current technology in support of instructional activities (including laboratories).
· Primary interest in and a firm commitment to undergraduate education.
· Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Desired Qualifications:
· Experience in teaching (Lecturer and Assistant Professor rank) and advising (Assistant Professor rank) at the college level.
· Professional work experience in the livestock industry.
· A record of successful extramural funding and scholarly activities (Assistant Professor rank).

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) is a state college in the University System of Georgia with two instructional sites in Southwest Georgia. ABAC’s mission is to provide excellent education by engaging, teaching, coaching, mentoring, and providing relevant experiences that prepare the graduate for life. The main campus is in Tifton, Georgia. Tifton is a progressive community known for its quality-of-life environment and was recently named one of the 100 Best Small Towns in America. The college has a student body of approximately 3,800 students. The School of Agriculture and Natural Resources is one of four schools and offers seven of the college’s 14 Bachelor of Science degrees. The school’s enrollment (approximately 1,500) is 40% of the college’s total enrollment and has approximately 50 faculty and staff. The Department of Agriculture is one of three departments within the school. It has a total enrollment of approximately 1,000 students. The Department of Agriculture currently offers four baccalaureate degree programs (BS in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Agricultural Technology Management, and Environmental Horticulture) and is the academic home to 23 faculty and staff.
