Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Iowa State University seeks a Faculty Director to lead the Egg Industry Center. The Egg Industry Center is national in scope with the mission to add value to the egg industry by facilitating research and learning for egg producers, processors and consumers through national and international collaboration. The Director is expected to lead a highly visible program that serves the layer industry and will oversee the awarding and management of research funds, manage a staff of technical and administrative personnel, engage with the egg industry on current issues, and disseminate industry-relevant data through appropriate channels. The Director will interface with the EIC advisory board to establish strategic priorities, organize educational forums for the industry, and address new and emerging issues through education and research. The incumbent for this position must be a strong collaborator across disciplines, departments and colleges, and is expected to work with colleagues in the Iowa State University Foundation to raise funds to expand the current donor-base and endowment.
The Director position serves at the pleasure of the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The Director will hold the Iowa Egg Council Endowed Professorship for a 5-year renewable term. The position will be a 9-month appointment, with two-months summer salary provided while serving as EIC director. The effort will be approximately 40% administrative, 55% research and 5% institutional service. As part of the research expectations, the faculty member will be expected to lead a nationally recognized research program to advance science and management in the egg sector and garner extramural funding while training and mentoring graduate students. Some limited teaching may be possible, within the context of the other responsibilities. The Director will represent the college and university and will require periodic overnight travel.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
A PhD in agricultural engineering, animal science, poultry science, or related discipline is required.
Candidates must meet requirements for rank at Associate or Full Professor with tenure in an academic department within the CALS.

Demonstrated experience leading a research program
