Founded in 1863 as the nation's first operational land-grant university, Kansas State University has grown into a comprehensive research university with nearly 20,000 students, more than 1,200 faculty and 2,400 staff. The K-State Animal Sciences and Industry (ASI) department serves students, livestock producers and the animal and food processing industries through teaching, research and education. KSU ASI prepares students for careers in the animal and food processing industries. The curriculum includes the study of nutrition, reproduction, genetics, physiology, behavior, meat science, dairy processing, production systems, and agribusiness. Our programs emphasize scientific rigor, critical thinking, and hands-on experience, equipping graduates to become leaders in animal agriculture and related industries both domestically and internationally.
